THE PROBLEM:
Multiple buildings over a large site were cabled over many years with a mixture of traditional phone cabling, Category 5E and some fibre optic links.

The company was wasting a lot of resources and money on making telephone moves and PC relocations for staff.

Often, technicians would spend hours tracing old single and double paired phone wiring just to patch a handset for an employee.

Due to the lack of network outlets, many areas of the site were getting very poor network performance as small hubs and switches had to be installed to proved connectivity to multiple PC’s and printers.

THE VERDICT: An installation of at least 2 Category 6 outlets per workstation was required so that a fully flexible and structured solution could be utilised.

This would enable Bedford I.T. staff to make any phone, fax or PC changes themselves.

This installation would also prepare the site for a full IP telephony solution which was scheduled for the near future.

THE SOLUTION: Computer Network Cabling installed Category 6 network outlets throughout 5 of the main buildings. Also, all the legacy telephone distribution frames were converted to Category 3 outlets presented on labelled patch panels. These were all centralised into cabinets in several key locations, to enable staff easy access.

No longer were ACMA technicians required to make simple phone swaps. I.T. staff can now patch a phone, fax or network outlet to any location.

The overall performance of the network is greatly improved as all network outlets run back to core switches and or fibre optic backbones.

“The structured solution Scott, Dave and the team at CNC delivered to us, has made the day to day management of a very complex phone and data network simple and easy to understand. We have saved a lot of money simply by being able to relocate our own extensions whenever we want to.” Jill Seeman – I.T. Coordinator
